Deputies were called shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon to investigate a reported crash at the intersection of Newtowne Neck Road and Wathen Road in Leonardtown involving three vehicles.

According to investigators, Salvador Martinez Gonzalez, 34, was driving a 2020 Chevy Silverado north on Newtowne Neck Road when he lost control of the truck, crossed the center line and struck a Toyota Highlander in the southbound lanes being driven by Ann Hardman.

The Toyota then caromed into a Monte Carlo being driven by Joseph Green, also in the southbound lanes.

Hardman and Martinez Gonzalez were both treated and rushed to area trauma centers by paramedics. They were listed in stable condition on Tuesday. Green and a passenger in the Monte Carlo were uninjured.

Weather and speed are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
